What are Amazon Echo Buttons?

Amazon recently introduced a collection of playful products called Alexa Gadgets that enhance voice interactions with compatible Echo devices. Alexa Gadgets take gaming to a whole new level by allowing friends and family to physically interact with their Echos.

Echo Buttons, which were announced alongside a series of new Echo products, are the first of multiple new Alexa Gadgets available for purchase this holiday season.

What are Amazon Echo Buttons?

Roughly the size of a hockey puck, these illuminating buttons interact with a compatible Echo device. According to Amazon, each button can be pressed to “trigger a variety of gameplay experiences powered by Alexa.”

At a press event in September, Amazon demonstrated using the buttons to play trivia-like games, in which users may press a Button to answer a question.

How do Amazon Echo Buttons work?

Though unconfirmed, it is assumed that users can activate their Echo Buttons using the Alexa app on an iOS or Android device. Then, they may connect with a compatible Echo device.

As far as charge, the Buttons look to be battery-powered.

Which Alexa Gadget’s support Echo Buttons?

At the press event, Amazon illustrated using the Echo Buttons with Alexa skills such as Beat the Intro from Musicplode, Dungeon Escape and Sounds Fun with Mike Epps from Ground Control.

It is possible that more Alexa skills will support Echo Buttons. To activate a skill, ask Alexa to do so; however, you may have to open the Alexa app as well.

Where to buy Amazon Echo Buttons

You can purchase a pair of Echo Buttons from Amazon for £19.99 ($19.99 in the US).

When is the Amazon Echo Buttons release date?

Because the Buttons have yet to be authorised by the Federal Communications Commission, they are currently unavailable for purchase. Those interested can sign up to be notified; however, Amazon estimates their release to be this December.
