Samsung Galaxy A6 Release Date, Price & Spec Rumours

A sudden barrage of leaks surrounding two new Samsung mid-rangers suggest a launch for the Galaxy A6 and A6+ is imminent. Successors to the 2017 Galaxy A5, the new phones are likely to be significantly more affordable than the company’s flagship Galaxy S9, but will nevertheless feature its Infinity Display. This is clearly visible in the CAD-based renders leaked in the video above.
It’s also visible in two new images leaked by TechTastic, which show the Galaxy A6 in blue and gold (below), and the phone has again been leaked in live photos accompanying the National Communications Commission on Taiwan’s certificate of a phone with model number M-A605G/DS.

A key difference between the two is thought to be their size, with the Galaxy A6 rocking a 5.6in Super AMOLED screen and the A6+ a 6in panel. These adopt the same 18.5:9 aspect ratio as other models higher up the line, and thus have a Full-HD+ resolution of 2220×1080 pixels.
The larger model is expected to feature slightly different core hardware, with 4GB of RAM to the A6’s 3GB, and a Snapdragon 625 processor in place of its Exynos 7870 chip. Both will feature 32GB of storage. Despite this, performance appears to be fairly level between A6 and A6+.
Both handsets have been spotted in the Geekbench database, with the model numbers SM-A600FN and SM-A605G. The former, thought to be the A6, recorded 723 points single-core and 3605 multi-core, while the second model, which may be the A6+, scored 739 points single-core and 3469 multi-core.
The SM-A600FN has also received Wi-Fi certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance, which confirms it will support 802.11a/b/g/n but not ac Wi-Fi.
Bluetooth certification also reveals that both Galaxy A6 phones will support Bluetooth 4.2 and arrive with Android 8.0 Oreo onboard.
GSMArena lists some additional specs for the Galaxy A6, including IP68 waterproofing, Gorilla Glass, the Mali-T830 MP1 GPU, microSD support up to 256GB, a 13Mp rear camera with PDAF and an LED flash, 8Mp selfie camera, USB-C, NFC, a fingerprint scanner, 3000mAh battery and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It also says it will be available in black, gold and blue, though where this information comes from is unclear.

When is the Samsung Galaxy A6 release date?
Although we do not yet know when these new phones will be announced, we do know where they will launch. According to Sammobile, the Galaxy A6 and A6+ will be available in Europe, Russia and the Middle East, ruling out the US and other territories.
The launch is likely to be imminent, however, especially when you consider the significant number of leaks in recent weeks, and the fact the A6+ is already present on Samsung’s Polish support site.
How much will the Samsung Galaxy A6 cost?
In specification the new Galaxy A6 and A6+ appear to be successors to last year’s Galaxy A5. That phone had a reasonably high RRP of £399, but quickly fell in price and is now available for around £223 SIM-free (via Amazon; $317 via Amazon US).
We’d expect to see a small price difference between the two, but at around the same price point as the A5. At a guess we’d suggest pricing of £399 and £449, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
