Apple had it’s big moment for 2017 unveiling the iPhone X among other things and now it’s Google’s turn. Is looks like there’s a lot of new devices coming today, including this Daydream View 2 VR headset.
Google announced the Daydream View headset around this time last year so it’s about time we were introduced to the second generation.
When is the Google Daydream View 2 release date?
The Daydream View 2 is just one of many products that Google is expected to unveil at an event today, Wednesday 4 October. We imagine most of these new products will hit shelves the same month but we’ll update this once we know.
How can I watch the Daydream View 2 launch live stream?
We’ve got the live stream for Google’s big event at the top of this page, so simply check back here at 5pm BST on 4 October. We’ll also be bringing you a live blog of the event, which you can view at the bottom of this page.
Google is also thought to be launching Pixel 2 phones, a Pixelbook and the Google Home Mini.
How much will the Daydream View 2 cost in the UK?
According to Droid-Life the Google Daydream View 2 will cost $99. That’s a $20 increase on the original.
In the UK the first Daydream VR headset costs £69 and we fear it will jump to £99 for the Daydream 2 due to Brexit and the current value of the pound.
Google Daydream 2 rumoured features
Despite its bumper leak of the products Google will announce at the event, Droid-Life doesn’t have any technical details on the Daydream View 2.
What the site does say is that the headset will come in three new colours: Charcoal, Fog, and Coral. That’s similar to the previous Slate, Crimson and Snow options.
The rest is only what we can gather from the leaked image which shows a very similar design to the original (see above with the original on the left). The fabric covering looks a bit different but there’s still an elastic catch to hold the front flap close and a remote control.
It’s a shame Google hasn’t added an extra strap to go over the top of the head. The Daydream 2 should support the first generation Pixel phones and other Daydream-enabled phones but we’ll find out soon.
