As Smartphones become more and more powerful, the ability to take and customise screenshots is becoming more useful. Snapping content and then being able to edit it, then send it on to a friend or work colleague comes with a whole multitude of uses.

I’ve you’ve just got yourself a shiny new Note 8, have a look at our top Android tips & tricks and make sure you bring your apps across from your old phone.

In this guide, we’ll take you through the process of taking your screenshots on your Note 8.

  • Navigate to the content that you wish to capture.
  • Either press + hold the power button and volume down button at the same time, for two seconds.
  • Or you can use your touch screen. Place your hand along the left or right edge of your phone and swipe towards the middle. (You must have “Palm swipe to capture” enabled for this. Settings > Advanced features.)

  • The screen will flash and your captured screenshot will show on the screen for a moment.
  • The screenshot will be in your gallery, and shareable right away.
  • When you take a screenshot through any method, you’ll have some options pop up at the bottom. “Scroll capture” is particularly useful here, as you can capture an entire page in a series of screenshots, which you phone will then stitch together to make one long picture. This method is perfect for capturing a larger web page, like a long article or restaurant menu.

The S Pen is another great way of interacting with screenshots.

  • Open up the content you wish to capture.
  • Launch the Air Command by taking out the S Pen, and hit “Screen Write”.
  • This will capture a screenshot, and take you to an editing screen where you can annotate your content.
  • When you’re done, hit Crop, Share or Save to complete your work.

Of course, if you’re feeling extra relaxed over Christmas, you can just ask your phone to take the screenshot for you.

  • Make sure you have voice enabled.
  • Have the content you wish to capture on your screen.
  • Say the following words. “Ok Google… Take a screenshot”.
