Honor 7X News: Release Date, Price, Specifications & Live Stream

Honor unveiled the 7X in China back in October, and it will officially announce the phone today in the UK. Its predecessor is the Honor 6X

When is the Honor 7X release date?

Honor is holding a launch in London today. It’s certainly going to launch the 7X at this event, but it’s also rumoured that it will announce a higher-end V10 model. For now, you can read our hands-on review of the Honor 7X.

You can watch the launch live at the top of this page from 2:15pm UK time.

How much will the Honor 7X cost?

No UK price has been confirmed (it will revealed during the launch), but the old model cost £224 when it launched at the start of 2017. You can now buy it for as little as £179.99 from Amazon which, given the specifications of the 7X, is pretty exciting if you want a huge screen in a small body at an affordable price.

Obviously you’ll have to wait and see how much the phone costs in the UK, but in China the 32GB model is 1999 Yuan, which translates directly to £229 – very close. Sadly, prices tend to increase for the UK, so don’t hold your breath for a sub-£250 tag.

What are the Honor 7X specifications?

Although a European or UK model could differ in its specs, the Chinese model has a 5.93in screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2160×1080. Those are pretty much the same specs as the Mate 10 Pro’s screen, although for the 7X it’s an IPS rather than pOLED display.

On the back you’ll find dual cameras just as on the Honor 6X, but this time arranged horizontally rather than vertically. The main camera is 16Mp – up from 12Mp – but the secondary is still 2Mp as it’s used for depth sensing rather than taking photos.

At the front, there’s an 8Mp selfie camera which looks to be identical to the 6X’s and the same capacity 3340mAh battery inside.

Processing power comes from the Kirin 659 chip with 4GB of RAM. In China there’s a choice of 32, 64 or 128GB of internal storage and support for microSD cards. It’s a dual-SIM phone, but you have to choose whether you want to use the second slot in the tray for a SIM or a microSD card.

Again, on the Chinese model there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microUSB charging port. Due to the thin top and bottom screen bezels the fingerprint scanner is located on the back.

The phone comes in the signature Blue, but there are also Black and Gold models. Whether there will be the same choice if the phone goes on sale here remains unknown.

Here are the main specifications, but note these are for the Chinese model and the UK model may differ:
