The centre has been established by Dafza in co-operation with Dubai Customs, and is intended to deliver customs and security services.
According to Dafza, the smart centre will streamline commercial activities in its trading area with 24-hour automation.
The centre will also support live video communications with customs and security officers in case there are inquiries or requests to finish transactions or obtain shipment clearances via intelligent readers of customs data.

“The showcase at Gitex does not only involve services, but also expansion of projects and the vision of the future of free zones and how they will achieve their full economic and commercial potential,” said Amna Lootah, assistant director general for the finance, commercial and customer relations division of Dafza’s Innovation and Future Unit.
Dafza said the smart centre is just one of the major updates it has delivered to attract foreign investors to the free zone. The free zone authority seeks to support Dubai’s smart city initiatives.
Also on show with Dafza is the free zone’s new interactive customer relationship management system, which features highly automated services.
